Hello!
I’m Meg
McClean
Sustainability &
Communications Strategist
About me
I’ve built a career helping organizations create and communicate positive impact, always aiming to ensure the process is as meaningful (and enjoyable!) as the end result. I’m motivated by the potential to inspire others through thoughtful stakeholder engagement and compelling content.
Over nine years, I’ve developed three core areas of practice: impact strategy development (e.g., materiality assessments, corporate sustainability frameworks, implementation plans, mission/vision/ values alignment), impact measurement and reporting (e.g., Theory of Change workshops, KPI identification & tracking, ESG reports) and impact communications (e.g., organizational & campaign MarComms plans, internal communcations & workshops, green claims regulations & consumer authority guidance).
I entertain my love for joyful aesthetics and self-expression through the occasional styling job. I’m particularly interested in working with brands focused on responsible production and local creators.
I was born and raised in Kent, England and have spent the last 15 years in various Canadian cities. I currently live in Toronto with my partner and dog.

Experience
Senior Strategist & Project Manager
Reconsidered
01/2022 – Present
- As a senior strategist, I lead support for Reconsidered’s consulting practice, developing impact strategies and sustainability communications plans, building strong client relationships and managing complex project plans. I also support with copywriting, business development and freelancer recruitment.
- I played a key role in launching Reconsidered’s Impact Academy, developing the content for the company’s first on-demand course The New Rules of Sustainability Communications. This self-paced training is designed to help sustainability professionals and communicators understand emerging green claims regulations so they can share sustainability initiatives with confidence.
- I value my position here for many reasons. Jess (Founder) has attracted a community of smart, kind and energizing impact practitioners. I also get to work with organizations across the globe with a specialization in textiles and apparel sustainability — an industry I am particularly passionate about.
SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST
Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO)
03/2020 – 12/2021
- I led the execution of an enterprise-wide impact strategy, Spirit of Sustainability at the LCBO – one of the world’s largest retailers and wholesalers of beverage alcohol.
- I worked with internal and external partners to strengthen the strategy, tracked and reported progress towards strategic commitments at the end of each fiscal year, and led the strategic planning of awareness and fundraising campaigns.
- This role gave me an opportunity to implement an impact strategy I developed (while at Public Inc.). We were a small team and I learned how to keep projects moving, while also zooming out and prioritizing new program development to fill strategic gaps. I am most proud of my contributions to the Spirit of Inclusion Initiative, a program designed to create opportunities for diverse women to enter and advance in the alcohol industry.
client Strategy manager
Public Inc.
01/2016 – 03/2020
- I started my career at Public Inc. as a Research Coordinator and worked my way up to Client Strategy Manager. In this role, I developed strategic plans for large and small organizations across government, non-profit and private sectors — from social impact & sustainability platforms and impact measurement frameworks to employee engagement plans and external communications campaigns.
- This position helped me find my place in the professional world. Public Inc. provided a supportive environment to strengthen my research skills and hone my strategic thinking. As a leading impact consulting firm and the host of B Corp breakfasts, I will always be grateful for the lifelong connections I made during my time at Public Inc.
